ALIVE by Raintree has created a new department whose sole role is to clean, sanitize and disinfect the entire club from equipment to studios, to toilets. Bottles are placed throughout the club for members to sanitize equipment before and after usage. Additionally, our sanitization team is constantly walking through to clean the club. After each group fitness / yoga class the studio(s) are closed for at least 30 minutes allowing for adequate time to disinfect. We will be using two product to clean: A quart disinfectant and a quat Sanitizer made and supplied by P&G and approved to kill COVID-19. For more detailed information on our cleaning procedures please read ‘A Message from our Sanitization Manager’.
A Message from our Sanitization Manager
As the nation continues to battle with the spread of COVID-19 we want you to know that ALIVE by Raintree is a safe space. We have always strived to provide a clean and safe environment for our members and are continuing that as we move forward. My name is Dylan Lindsey and I am the sanitization team manager here at ALIVE by Raintree. The intention of this message is to increase our transparency as to how the club is sanitized throughout the day and night. I have included information on our whole club sanitizing procedure, group fitness class sanitization, and equipment sanitization.
Sanitization team members work around the clock to ensure that you have a safe and sanitary environment. During the day, we work off a checklist system to ensure every area is disinfected on a regular basis and no areas are missed. High touch areas are wiped down and initialed by those who completed them so that we have a record of sanitizing. Additionally, we are enforcing our mask and social distancing policies since masks and social distancing has been proven to decrease the transmission of the novel Coronavirus. After we close at 10 pm there is a cleaning crew from that works until midnight cleaning mirrors, shining floors, and completing housekeeping tasks. After they leave a team comes in and fogs the building. The over 52,000 square feet of our club are disinfected by an FDA approved fog that kills on contact. It is closely monitored to ensure every square inch is disinfected. These practices ensure that the club is consistently clean and safe for our members.
The sanitization team is also responsible for sanitizing studios after group fitness classes. Following each class; materials are submerged in a health department approved sanitizer to ensure complete coverage and sanitization. High touch areas such as water fountains, door handles, hand sanitizer dispensers, etc. are wiped down with disinfectant. Floors are spot cleaned and fans are run on high to increase air circulation. When adequate time is provided floors are mopped with disinfectant. Members must reserve studios for on-demand class time through our app, the same way you would enroll in any other group fitness classes. This not only ensures you will have the studio to yourself but also notifies the sanitization team that they will need to clean following that on-demand time. Clean and dirty equipment is kept separate and clean equipment is only handled by gloved and masked sanitization members. To further decrease the risk of transmission members are not permitted in the studios during sanitization times. I would personally like to thank our members for their patience as we clean the studios between classes.
Finally, the equipment floor. All equipment is sanitized once a day by the fog aforementioned and once every five hours by hand. In addition to this, the sanitization team monitors what equipment is being used so that we can clean it more regularly. Every two and a half hours the sanitization team wipes down equipment that has been used. Before we close, weight plates are spaced out to ensure that air, and our sanitizing fog, can make contact with the surfaces of every plate. We have also placed spray bottles at every machine and are asking that members wipe down equipment before AND after they use it. This ensures that every piece of equipment is sanitized and again, lowers the risk of transmission.
Thank you to our members and incredible community for working with us to provide a clean and safe environment for everyone. We are in this together and by wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and wiping down equipment everyone is able to keep ALIVE by Raintree safe. The sanitization team works around the clock to keep our spaces clean and strives to be transparent in our cleaning procedures. If you have any questions or concerns about our cleaning procedure please contact us as we strive to provide a legendary experience. – Sanitization@RaintreeAthleticClub.com
Gym’s are Safe
Of more than 49.4 million health club visits over three months 0.0023% tested positive for COVID-19, which is more than 500 times less than the current estimated US national average, according to the study by MXM, a technology, and knowledge transfer company specializing in member tracking within the fitness industry. The study tracked member check-in data from May 1-Aug. 6 at 2,873 U.S. health clubs and studios compared to self-reported infection rates. Participating clubs included Anytime Fitness, Life Time, Planet Fitness, and Orangetheory.
As recently as a few months ago, the data correlating fitness facility visits and the mitigating risk was practically nonexistent,” MXM CEO Blair McHaney said in a media release. ” All that’s changed – and for the better. It’s become abundantly clear that the safety measures gyms, sports clubs, and boutique fitness centers have in place are not only incredibly effective at keeping their members safe but also curbing any potential spread of COVID-19 during a time when we all need access to exercise facilities to stay healthy.
MXM, along with IHRSA, invited all health and fitness clubs in the United States to participate in the long-form study. Over the course of the study, fitness centers provided their total check-ins and number of locations across all states in which they have a presence as well as self-reported the total number of positive COVID-19 cases documented between employees and members who have been in the club. MXM previously conducted a study surrounding the lack of concentrated outbreaks in fitness facilities with affirming results just last month.
The check-in data proves that health clubs, when following strict cleaning and safety protocols, are safe,” Brent Darden, IHRSA interim president, and CEO, said in the release. “At IHRSA, we have a responsibility to educate and inform people that they should feel comfortable and confident going into fitness facilities throughout the country right now. The data shows that, with proper sanitization protocols in place, people can safely return to their workout routines. Working out has never been more important to help boost immunity and improve mental health. It’s time to acknowledge that gyms are safe.” Several studies have shown that physical activity plays a role in not only maintaining a healthy immune system but also in reducing COVID-19 risk factors such as obesity, heart disease, lung disease, and diabetes. In the United States, 42.4 percent of adults and 18.5 percent of children and adolescents are considered obese, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Physical fitness has long-term mental health benefits as well, including reducing the risk of stress and depression. One in five Americans experience mental health illness, and people with mental illness have a 40 percent higher risk of developing cardiovascular and metabolic diseases than the general population.
Fitness centers are needed now more than ever to help us stay active and maintain a healthy immune system,” Robert Sallis, M.D. with Kaiser Permanente, said in the release. “COVID-19 risk factors haven’t changed since the pandemic began—obesity, heart disease, lung disease, and diabetes put you at much higher risk for both short- and long-term complications. It’s imperative that we all make real change now to stay healthy given that exercise is an essential part of life.
Members will be asked to use hand sanitizer when entering the club and frequently throughout their visit. The hand sanitizer solution kills up to 99.9% of germs Hand sanitizer will be available at new touchless stations throughout the club and well ad numerous additional pump hand sanitizers around the club.
Members will be asked to use disinfectant wipes on equipment before and after use in addition to ALIVE by Raintree’s cleaning protocols. Our disinfectant wipes, approved by the EPA for use against COVID-19 are proven to kill 99.99% of bacteria, viruses & fungi on equipment while having the safest EPA Toxicity Rating. Disinfectant wipes and spray will be available throughout the club and at each piece of equipment.
Our team will have body temperatures taken immediately after entering the club via touchless thermometers. Per CDC guidelines, individuals with a body temperature greater than 100.4 degrees, or local guidelines, will not be permitted entry into the club.
Mask-wearing requirements apply to everyone indoors, including people exercising. If you are in an indoor room with other patrons who are not a part of your household, then you need to wear a mask. You may remove it temporarily if you need to catch your breath or safely perform an activity, but wear a mask as much as feasible.
